FOUR-MONTH MODULAR PROGRAMME
Introduction
This is an entry level programme for beginners and people who have the desire to learn how to cut and sew specific items. This course being practical oriented, focuses more on practical training. The learner will be taken through four modules over a period of four months. The Learner will be given a project at the end of every model for appraisal.
Objectives:
- To emphasize more on skill proficiency to enable learner acquire basic competencies in sewing in order to pursue higher learning in fashion designing.
- Develop fundamental competencies in sewing.
- Develop an understanding of the basic skills required in sewing.
- To help individuals turn hobbies into a career.
MODULE 1:
At the end of this module you will be able to
- Master the use of the sewing machine
- Take body measurements
- Prepare fabric for cutting
- Mark, cut and assemble a basic bodice and its variations (Cut V, square and sweetheart necklines)
MODULE 2:
At the end of this module you will be able to
- Select a suitable fabric for cutting
- Mark, cut and assemble a basic skirt
- Sew a fitted 3 quarter skirt
MODULE 3:
At the end of this module you will be able to
- Cut two piece sheath
- Cut a princess sheath
- Mark and cut out the basic sleeve
- Cut and sew a two-piece sleeveless sheath
MODULE 4:
At the end of this module you will be able to
- Cut puff, cap and bell sleeves
- Join sleeve to a bodice
- Cut the basic kimono and a raglan
Entry requirements:
Minimum SSSCE/WASSCE certificate or holders of NVTI or
Professionals with relevant experience can apply.
